it is one day closer to eternity in heaven or hell. The human being is made of three parts: the body, the soul, and the spirit. After death there two states all people will be in: the intermediate and the final states. What happens to the body is the same for a Christian and a non-Christian! The body of the Christian and the non-Christian rots!!! Genesis 3:19; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18; Job 19:25-26 The body of both believer and non-believer will be resurrected. It will be raised again. Dan. 12.2; John 5.28,29 First what happens to the believer A great reunion, an awesome reward, an incredible restoration, a wonderful rest, a fantastic revelation, and an exciting reign. We’ll talk about this next week. What will happen to the soul and spirit of the unbeliever after death? In the intermediate state: Those who die without Christ will be raised to a relentless torment. Luke 16.19-31 This is a real story, place, real non-material body and real flames No reincarnation Heb 9.27. Regrets Luke 16.27. Remembering Luke 16.25. The only thing you have in “Hades” is a bad reservation. 2Peter 2.9 What is this “bad” reservation? Rev 20.11-15 The non Christian body will will be ressurected and be joined with his soul and spirit to form an imperishable body to exist eternally. Then the Great White Throne Judgement Rev 20. 11-15, then hell… Hell was designed originally for Satan and his demons Matt 25.41; Rev 20.10 Hell will also punish the sin of those who disobeyed Christ Matt 13.41,49; Rev 20.11-15; 21.8 Hell is conscious existence Matt 13.49; Mark 9.48; Rev 14.10 Hell is eternal and irreversible Rev 14.11; 20.14;15 Erroneous views of Hell 1 The second chance view Heb 9.27 2 Universalism – all will be eternally saved. Refute John 3.16-18 3 Annihilationism refute John 5.28. It denies the resurrection of the unsaved and conscious torment. Objections to the Biblical view of Hell 1) A loving God would not send people to a horrible hell Response God is just(Rom 2.11) God has provide the way of salvation (John 3.16, 2Cor 5.14-15, 2Peter 3.9) Therefore God doesn’t send people to hell, they choose it (Rom 1.18,21,25) 2) Hell is too severe a punishment for man’s sin. Response God is holy – perfect (1peter 1.14-15) Sin is willful opposition to god our Creator (Rom 1.18-32) Our sin does merit hell Rom 3.23; 6.23 What is unfair and amazing is that Christ died for our sin and freely offers salvation to all Rom 3.22-24 What will you do today, on earth this body of yours is either His temple or your tomb.
