16:1 Preserve me, God, for in you do I take refuge. 16:2 My soul, you have said to Yahweh, "You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing." 16:3 As for the saints who are in the earth, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight. 16:4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who give gifts to another god. Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take their names on my lips. 16:5 Yahweh assigned my portion and my cup. You made my lot secure. 16:6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places. Yes, I have a good inheritance. 16:7 I will bless Yahweh, who has given me counsel. Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons. 16:8 I have set Yahweh always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 16:9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices. My body shall also dwell in safety. 16:10 For you will not leave my soul in Sheol, neither will you allow your holy one to see corruption. 16:11 You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

What do you put your confidence in? Is it money, sex or pwer? Or is it Giod?
1:7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give you. 1:8 And Solomon said unto God, You have showed great mercy unto David my father, and have made me to reign in his position. 1:9 Now, O LORD God, let your promise unto David my father be established: for you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. 1:10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this your people, that is so great? 1:11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in yours heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of yours enemies, neither yet have asked long life; but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge my people, over whom I have made you king: 1:12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto you; and I will give you riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before you, neither shall there any after you have the like.
If God came to you and ask you "Ask for whatever you want me to give you." What would be your answer? God is NOT a genie in a bottle to answer our every whims and wishes. Solomon had the right attitude in prayer. He approached God seeking His will. He did not that he would be the wisest, nor richest nor have the most wives of any one in history! He could have asked for those things, rather he asked for wisdom and knowledge. Wisdom in the Bible is not defines as intellectual head knowledge, rather it is the ability to live a godly and moral life! He also asked for knowledge which is not head knowledge but rather the ability to know the things of God. He asked God for the right things and as a result was rewarded in other areas of his life. When we seek His kingdom and His righteousness, God will reward us!
