Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960); Reina-Valera 1995 (RVR1995); Nueva Versión Internacional (NVI); La Biblia de las Américas (LBLA)2Kings 1 Ahaziah fell through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and injured himself. He sent messengers to consult with Baal-Zebub instaed of the living God. Elijah heard about this and met with Ahaziah's messengers and told them that Ahaziah would die. Ahaziah sent three companies of men on separate times to arrest Elijah, but each time fire from heaven would destroy them. The captain of the third company begged for his life. The angel told him to go with them to see Ahaziah. Elijah told Ahaziah because he went to consult with Baal-Zebub instead of God, he would die.
Let us make absolutely sure that the God we pray to and consult with is not a god or idol but the One and Only living God, the God of Jesus Christ.2Kings 2 in Verse 1-18, Elijah was taken up to heaven in this chapter. Before he was taken up, his successor, Elisha asked him for a double portion of his spirit. Elijah said that was a difficult thing to grant but if Elisha saw him taken up his wish would be granted. In v.19-22, the water was purified (healed) through a miracle and Elisha was jeered by young men, and he called a curse on them and they were mauled.

Acts 13.42-14.7
This is the First Missionary Journey (Acts 13.4 - 14.28). Let us notice that Paul and Barnabas were set apart to do the work.Paul's First Missionary Journey
Paul and Barnabas presented the Gospel to the Jews in a locak synagogue. This had the Jews thinking about the Gospel. Some were receptive, others were resisting the Gospel. The next Sabbath, the whole city was out to hear Paul. The unbelieving Jews became jealous and cause Paul and Barnabas trouble. Paul then turn to the Gentiles and preached the word and the Gentiles were receptive. Word of application: The Gospel will divide people into either being responsive or resistive towards it. Then we should go to the ones who are receptive to the Gospel.
In Acts 14.1-7 In Icononium, the unbelieving Jews stirred up trouble for Paul and Barnabas. But Paul and his companions kept on being faithful to the Gospel and spoke boldly defending and presenting it to everyone.
Verse to meditate on: Acts 13.48: When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

1 Kings 22.1-28; 2Chronicles 18.1-27 Ahab, king of Israel, and Jehoshaphat, king of Judah met as allies against the king of Aram. Jehoshaphat wanted the counsel of God and asked Ahab if there was a prophet in Israel, so that they could seek the counsel of the Lord whether they should go to war against Romoth-gilead. Ahab had his prophets but they did not have the Spirit of God within them. Jehoshaphat sensing this, asked if there was another prophet present. Ahab said that there was the prophet Micaiah but he never prophesied any good (in Ahab's favor). Jehoshaphat requested Micaiah and he answered opposite to what the lying prophets told Ahab and Jehoshaphat. The truth was the Lord did not give Ramoth-Gilead.in the hands of Ahab and Jehoshaphat. Micaiah was put in prison for speaking the truth. How many of us would stand up for the truth and pay the consequences?Ahab was killed by a random arrow, at Ramoth-Gilead (1Kings 22.29-36; 2Chronicles 18.28-34) even though he disguised himself. Ahab's blood was licked up by dogs as the Lord had declared in 1Kings 21.19.
Jehoshaphat was the king of Judah 1 Kings 22:41-50; 2 Chronicles 20:31-21:1; 2 Chronicles 17-21:3 during the reign of Ahab. He was a good king although he associated with Ahab. He walked in the ways of Asa, his father and did right in the eyes of the Lord. He did not, however, remove the high places and the people offered sacrifices and burnt offerings there.
Ahaziah was the king of Israel (1Kings 22.51-53). He was the son of Ahab and did evil in the eyes of the Lord. He had Ahab and Jezebel as two perfect evil examples to follow.

This is the First Missionary Journey (acts 13.4-14.28). Let us notice that Paul and Barnabas were set apart to do the work.Paul's First Missionary Journey
In Pisidian Antioch. (v. 13-52), Paul took the opportunity to speak at the local synagogue. He started off speaking about how God had acted in the Old Testament and how the Messiah came through the people of Israel. He identified the Messiah as Jesus. The Messiah came to the Jews but they did not recognize Him, condemned Him and put Him to death, God raised Him from the dead. He pointed out how the Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled through Him.Application: We can learn from Paul! He took every opportunity he had to spread the Gospel. He knew the Word of God because he studied it and knew how to relate it to the people around him whether they were the religious Jews or the God-fearing Greeks.
Verse to meditate on: 38"Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. 39Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.

1Kings 21: King Ahab had coveted Naboth's vineyard. He wanted to buy it from Naboth but he refused to sell it to him. Jezebel came up with an evil scheme on how to get the vineyard. As part of her evil scheme, two evil men accused Naboth of cursing God and the king. Naboth was consequently stoned and Ahab got the vineyard. Elijah, by the word of God, confromted Ahab, and said because he murdered Naboth and stole his vineyard, the dogs will lick Ahab's blood in the same way they licked Naboth's blood. Ahab repented of the sins he committed against Naboth and humbled himself before God. He will not bring disaster on the house of Ahab but on the house of his son. Prayer changes things when done in humility, sincerity and faith.

Elijah
Today's reading 1 Kings 19
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links: 1Kings 19
In 1Kings 19, Elijah had experienced the victory over the prophets of Baal but became afraid for his life when Jezebel told him that she would kill him. Elijah ran for his life. He wanted to die. An angel came to minister to him and gave him food. He traveled to Horeb for forty days and night where he spent the night in a cave, the Lord appeared to Elijah, through a great and powerful wind, earthquake, a fire and then through a gentle whisper. Elijah had the idea that he was the only one serving the Lord! God pointed out to him that he had seven thousand in Israel who did not serve or worship Baal!! God told Elijah to make Jehu king of Israel, Hazael king of Aram and anoint Elisha to succeed Elijah as prophet.
Be careful of a mountain top experience, such as spiritual victory in your life, because there is a possibility of a fall! When the adrenaline stops flowing after a hard task, it is possible for the body to crash, like the case of Elijah. God provided for Elijah's needs where he was at. He gave him something to eat and drink and for him to rest. We are not the only ones doing a particular ministry, that is why we should not feel alone, we are not the Lone Ranger doing it all by ourselves! We are not indispensible, behind every Moses there is a Joshua, behind every Elijah, there is an Elisha!

Today's Reading Acts 12
Acts 12.1-23
Herod put to death James, the brother of JOhn. He was the first apostke to be martyed The Greek word martus signifies a witness who testifies to a fact of which he
has knowledge from personal observation. This is how we got the word martyr! Janes was a faithful eye-witness of the Lord. Peter was imprisoned by Herod, but he had a miraculous escape from prison. We need to understand that when our time is come to meet the Lord, then it will happen! It happened for James but not for Peter!
Do you beliebe in angels? They are God's messengers and angels to minister to us. An angel minister to Elijah when he fled from Jezebel and an angel freed Peter from prison

Readings from Psalms 136
This is a psalm of thanksgiving to God. Please note the repeating phrase 'His love endures forever'. Another repaeting phrase is 'Give thanks to': the Lord (v. 1); God of gods (v.2); Lord of lords (v.3) another phrase 'to him who' or 'who'. This psalms is so rich about the attributes of God. When we are depressed about our life, we should read this psalm and focus on God rather than on ourselves and our troubles.
Verse to meditate on:
1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.

Before we start a quarrel, let us put to heart what it says in verse 14. In verse 15 that was what was done to the Lord Jesus. Barabbas was released and Jesus was condemned.
When a dam is breached, there is no way to hold the water back and there would be massive destruction. We saw how the levies broke when hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005. In the same way, our words can create massive damages in our relationships.
Maybe this was where we got the expression 'a fool and his money is soon parted.

Acts 10.24-48
Peter went to Cornelius' house. Cornelius told him how he was praying and saw an angel who told him how to find Peter. Peter realized at that point that God showed no favoritism but reaches all men whether Jews or gentiles. He then gave a description on the eyewitness account of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit came on these gentiles as well to the astonishement of the circumcised believers. Let us not forget that God reaches out to ALL people regardless of race, socioeconimic background, circumstance. Salvation is available to ALL people IF they put their trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Likewise the Holy Spirit is available to ALL believers when Jesus becomes the Lord and Savior of our lives.
Verse to meditate on : 34Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism 35but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.
