Ministers of Baal killed v. 18-35
2 Kings 11
Athaliah and Joash
2Kings 11.1-29; 2Chronicles 22.10-23.21
Athaliah saw that her son Ahaziah was killed, proceeded to destroy the whole royal family. God, in His providence spared Joash's life (Athaliah grandson) by hiding him with his nurse at the temple of the Lord. At the age of seven, Joash became king of Judah, and Athaliah was executed. Athaliah was a wicked queen and met her just reward. When you are in God's will like Joash was destined to be king, you willl be king regardless of Queen Athaliah.

2 King 12
Joash repairs the Temple, 2Kings 1-21; 2Chronicles 24.1-14, 23-27
Joash was a good king of Judah. he obeyed and followed the Lord. The high places, however were not removed.
Joash was turning away from the Lord in his latter years as king. Hazael of Aram was prepeared to attack Jerusalem and Joash sent all the sacred objects dedicated by his fathers, Jehoshaphat, Jehoram and Ahaziah as a tribute to Hazael, who then withdrew from Jerusalem.

Paul's Second Missionary Journey

Acts 18.1-22
Paul went to Corinth. This was an evil city. More information on Corinth is given in this Corinth link. Even though this city was famous for its immorality and its temple prostitutes, a church was formed in Corinth. Among the converts and believers were Titus Justus and Crispus and his family. God sets churches to be light in darkness and Corinth was no exception. The Jews attacked Paul but Jesus was there to protect him. We must not be afraid of persecution or hardship when doing God's work in whatever ministry we are involved with.
Verses to meditate on:
9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: "Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. 10For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city." 11So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.
Paul was not by himself, he had Silas and Timothy with him, later he had Priscilla and Aquila who were tent makers like Paul. He also met Apollos.

This is a hymn to the Lord, praising God as King.
3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;
his greatness no one can fathom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
The LORD is faithful to all his promises
and loving toward all he has made. [c]
14 The LORD upholds all those who fall
and lifts up all who are bowed down.
